Coat Drive

Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive

Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive is gearing up for its 2023-2024 coat donation drive as the seasons change and colder weather approaches. The coat drive runs from October 1st, 2023 until November 30th, 2023 in order to provide children in Rockford, IL, with new and lightly used coats to keep them warm during the winter. Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive, in collaboration with Schnucks and Woodman’s grocery shops, are collecting contributions in the front of the stores in boxes wrapped like Christmas presents. By taking part in this program, you can help guarantee that children aged one to eighteen have the necessary protection from cold temperatures and can enjoy winter activities with confidence.

The Importance of Coat Donations for Children

During the winter months, hypothermia, frostbite, and other cold-related ailments pose a major hazard to children. Extreme low temperatures, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), can have negative health impacts and raise the risk of hypothermia in children. By providing them with proper winter clothing, such as coats, we can help keep kids safe and protect their well-being.

Aside from physical health, correct winter gear is important for a child’s self-esteem and general well-being. According to studies, children who do not have warm clothes are frequently ashamed or self-conscious, which can have a detrimental influence on their self-image. We can increase their confidence and improve their good self-esteem by providing outerwear.

The Benefits of Outdoor Activities

Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive allows children to participate in outdoor activities with safety by ensuring that they have suitable winter clothing. Snowball fights, snowman building, and sledding are all key components of winter joy for kids. They can participate in these activities without worry of discomfort or frostbite if they wear appropriate winter attire.

How to Get Involved

If you want to make a difference and give to this important cause, go to Schnucks or Woodman’s in Rockford, IL. Look for the boxes wrapped like Christmas presents near the front of the buildings where you may donate new and gently used coats for children aged 1-18. The Comfort 1st Kids Coat drive does not take cash donations.

Additionally, the Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive allows volunteers to become sponsors. Please fill out the Sponsor Interest Form on the official Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive website if you would like to participate as a sponsor by offering coat donation sites, coat cleaning services, or donation pick-up locations.

Comfort 1st Kids Coat Drive acts as a light of warmth and compassion for children in Rockford, IL.
